Wow. Toronto? Really?

politics and strange bedfellows
This has me speechless.

Vandals attacked a midtown Toronto neighbourhood this weekend, cutting off phone and cable lines, spray-painting property and cutting brake lines on a number of vehicles.

Although there were reports the vandalism appeared to be linked to Liberal party supporters, Staff Sgt. Glenn Gray refused to confirm a motive behind the attacks, telling CTV.ca it was too early in the investigation to comment.

I am not sure if your post headline was meant to be sarcastic. ^^;;

We're in the neighbourhood where this stuff happened. Safe, quiet, posh, with real estate prices that destroyed my hopes of continuing to live here if we ever decide we want to own a place instead of renting one.

I have to admit that my first thought upon hearing this was about whether it was someone from here or from somewhere else. Then I realised that if I still lived on Dufferin I would have not thought of that. Everyone's a little bit racist classist, to paraphrase the song.

When I think about it consciously it's quite easy to believe that it was someone from around here.

i don't think there's any doubt anymore that it's directed at liberal party supporters -- there is anti-liberal graffiti, and Ls scratched into cars, and last i looked there were 14 incidents of brake line cutting, and all of cars that belong to people who had liberal yard signs.

fuckers. this is apparently not the first such incident either; i hadn't heard of the others before (in willowdale and guelph in august, related to byelections, also against liberal supporters).
